ഒരു ഔഷധസസ്യയിനമാണ് ഇഞ്ച (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: Acacia caesia). സംസ്കൃതത്തില്‍ നികുഞ്ചിക എന്നും പറയുന്നു. വലിയ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളില്‍ പടര്‍ന്നു വളരുന്ന ഒരു ചെടിയാണ്.
ഔഷധ ഗുണം: ആന്റി ക്റ്റീരിയലാണ്.
ത്വക് രോഗങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പറ്റിയ മരുന്നാണ്.

Morphology:

A perennial, woody climbing shrub grows over large trees. Leaves compound, leaflets 8-15 pairs, oblong-ovate, small and glabrous. Flowers whitish in axillary or terminal panicles. Fruits thin long pods, brown colored, contain 3-5 small compressed seeds.

Growing wild over large trees in deciduous forests

Therapeutic Uses:

Plant pacifies vitiated vata, pitta, burning sensation, skin disease, and is a good natural antibacterial. In India, crushed stem is used as a scrubber for bathing. Flower cures menstrual disorders.

ചര്‍മ സംരക്ഷണത്തിനും ശരീര കാന്തിക്കും ഉത്തമമാണ് ഇഞ്ച. ചുവട്ടില്‍നിന്ന് ഇലവരെ മുള്ളുകള്കൊണ്ട്‍ മൂപ്പെത്തിയ തണ്ടുകള്‍ ആറടി വീതം നീളത്തില്‍ മുറിച്ചെടുക്കുകയാണ് ആദ്യം ചെയ്യുന്നത്. പിന്നീട് മുള്ള് നീക്കം ചെയ്ത് തണ്ടില്‍നിന്ന് തൊലി തല്ലി ഉരിച്ച് പരന്ന പ്രതലത്തില്‍വച്ച് തല്ലി ചതച്ചശേഷം രണ്ട് ദിവസം വെയില്‍ കൊള്ളിച്ച് ഉണക്കിയാണ് വില്‍പ്പനയ്ക്ക് എത്തിക്കുന്നത്. ഉണങ്ങിയ ഇഞ്ച കത്തിച്ചാലുണ്ടാകുന്ന പുക കൊതുകു നശീകരണത്തിനും നല്ലതാണ്. ഇഞ്ച ഇടിച്ചുപിഴിഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന നീര് തേച്ച് കുളിക്കാനും ഉത്തമമാണ്.
