Nepal is the first country to execute a National Policy on Ayurveda. Ayurveda has the status of a medical system in Nepal. Full-fledged Ayurveda degree course of 5 and a half years is conducted by the Institute of Medicine in the premises of Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu. Ayurveda is practiced widely and plays key role in Primary Health Care. Wide range of Ayurveda Medicines are manufactured and used in the country. India supplies the major share of Ayurvedic Medicines used in Nepal. Bhutan also recognises Ayurveda as a Medical system. Unani, Ayurveda and Tibetan Medicine are popular in the country. India caters to the Ayurvedic medicine requirements of Bhutan and Nepal.
