Elakizhi (Herbal Leaf Compress Therapy)

Kizhi is a type of massage therapy used to address problems with the muscles, bones, and joints. Elakizhi is made out of two words: ela, which means leaves, and kizhi, which means bolus (potli). The method involves frying leaves in herbal oil and tying them to a linen cloth to help make the potli. The massage is done with potlis, which are natural herbal components that are considered to be quite efficient.

Elakizhi is commonly regarded as a component of the Panchakarma treatment. The thick bag is made from the leaves of the plants involved, which are claimed to have Vata-balancing powers (bolus). Elakizhi therapy has recently gained favor as a safe and efficient treatment.

Elakizhi provides various Benefits

Elakizhi therapy is most renowned for its ability to relieve back pain and clear a range of toxins from the body. This detox process is aided by massage therapy, which uses potlis filled with fried herbs leaves, and therapeutic oils, as discussed in the preceding sections.

Elakizhi is also reported to help with health issues like arthritis, spondylitis, back pain, sports injuries, and all other soft tissue inflammations, particularly joint problems.

The massage improves and optimizes blood circulation and sweat, which aids in the detoxification process.
