tamraka: Adenanthera pavonina Linn. A medium sized tree grows up to 15 meters in height. Leaves compound, bipinnate, leaflets many, alternate, ovate- oblong; flowers pale yellow, in short recemes, fruits are curved long pointed pods; seeds shining scarlet red colored, lenticular shaped.

Morphology:

A medium sized tree grows up to 15 meters in height. Leaves compound, bipinnate, leaflets many, alternate, ovate- oblong; flowers pale yellow, in short recemes, fruits are curved long pointed pods; seeds shining scarlet red colored, lenticular shaped. 

Geographical distribution:

Throughout India growing wild in deciduous forests. 

Therapeutic Uses:

Plant pacifies vitiated vata, pitta, arthritis, gout, burning sensation, vomiting, fever, hemorrhoids, and diarrhea.


Sujith Vm:
Decoction of the young leaves and bark of Manchadi is used to treat diarrhoea..seed is used in rheumatism
